01/28/2019 - 10:00 AM EST
FCC has fully reopened.
01/25/2019 - 10:30 PM EST
The President has signed the Further Additional Continuing Appropriations Act, 2019 into law. We are still awaiting official announcements from the OPM regarding an orderly return to work for federal employees as well as any instructions to FCC staff or to the public in regards to the resumption of FCC operations. The FCC has previously announced that any filings that were due during the shutdown period (1/3/19~1/25/19) would be due on the second business day that the FCC resumes operation. REC anticipates the FCC's first business day will be Monday, January 28.
01/04/2019 - 12:00 AM EST
The FCC is considered closed until further notice. There will be a small contingent of essential employees to handle safety and life issues, this includes enforcement. Any filings that are due (including full-service quarterly reports) will be due at the end of the second business day that the FCC reopens after funding is restored. No actions will be taken on licensing and objections. For life and property emergency STAs, contact the FCC emergency line (202) 418-1122 although we prefer that you consult with REC first.
01/02/2019 - 05:00 PM EST
On Thursday, 01/03, the staff of the FCC will be in the office for half of a day in order to assure an orderly closedown of services and systems. It is not considered a "business day" for the purpose of filings. Any filings that are due on the 3rd or any time during the lapse will be due at the end of the business day after the day that the FCC reopens.
01/02/2019 11:45 AM EST
In the event of a lapse in funding, the FCC's last full day is today. FCC employees will report for work on Thursday 1/3/2019 for a half day to start the process to close down. REC will issue a separate changlog item(s) to reflect our actual systems changes as a result of the shutdown.
12/22/2018 04:00 AM EST
FCC announces that they will be "business as usual" until January 2, 2019. This can happen if there's still some funding from the previous year to continue operations. FCC will still remain closed on December 24, 2018 by executive order that affects all federal offices and employees. Expect next business day on December 26.
12/21/2018 10:00PM EST:
A government shutdown is eminent. We have proactively placed a shutdown message on FCC.today. It's still possible that LMS and ULS (for amateur radio) will still be open over the weekend. We will keep our retrieval scripts active to gather any information. We have backups in the event of failure. At this time, all interactive websites and APIs at the FCC are still active (the official shutdown is not for another two hours). We do not know if the FCC will take down public facing systems like they did in 2013 and if so, when. This is a developing situation.
