We have received reports that some users are unable to retrieve the FCC History Cards from the links in FCCdata. To address this, we have identified two issues and have made the following changes:
The link to history cards in the header section of a domestic broadcast record has been removed. The link pointed to a web service at the FCC that has been discontinued. We may have a long term solution for this, however we are currently not resourced to do the development. The restoral of this link may take some time (later in 2023 or sometime in 2024) before we can get to it.
History cards can also be found in FCCdata in the Import Letters section of the facility information (right side at the bottom). The link will be labeled as History Card and will be a document with a 01/01/1980 date on it.
On the link to import letters, we have been made aware that some browsers were not able to correctly retrieve those documents. We have made a code fix that will hopefully address the issue.
We also note that the FCC systems, especially the ageing systems like CDBS and ULS have been having serious performance issues, which has been impacting some of the recent issues we have had with FCCdata. REC plans a future project to transition all import letter data at the facility level to using LMS as the resource. REC already supports the LMS equivalent of import letters at the application level through our eLMS interface.
