REC NETWORKS HAS CONFIRMED THAT THE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA APPLICATIONS FOR KPWR, KLVE AND KWVE ON LAST WEEKEND'S ENCROACHMENT REPORT WERE FRAUDULENTLY FILED. IN ADDITION, FRAUDULENT APPLICATIONS WERE FILED ON KKBT AND 5 LA AREA TELEVISION STATIONS. THIS APPLICATIONS HAVE BEEN PHYSICALLY REMOVED FROM CDBS.
REC'S DATABASE PRODUCTS WILL REFLECT THE DELETED APPLICATIONS ON IT'S LEGACY LOAD ON 10/30 AND IT'S SQL LOAD ON 10/31. CLIENTS USING CHANNEL REPORTS IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA THAT INVOLVE THE CHANNELS LISTED BELOW (PLUS 100.3 FOR KKBT) WILL RECEIVE INCORRECT INFORMATION UNTIL THE DATABASE IS UPDATED.
Like with others in the Southern California broadcast community, REC is very concerned about fraudulent broadcast applications being filed through CDBS. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to secure such a system, especially when it is very possible that a consulting engineer or another party may be filing an authorized application on behalf of a certain station. With this, it is more important than ever to make sure that as many LPFM licensees, permitees and applicants are using the REC weekly LPFM Activity Report or at least, reading the Broadcast Applications in the Daily Digest at the FCC.
REC's next project is to completely upgrade the ASPEN application system to move it from the legacy to the SQL platform. With this, we will be looking at the next step in the life of an LPFM, the modification application. With over 85% of all LPFM applications already dispositioned, there is now less focus on new applications and more focus on station's day to day operations. Of course, ASPEN will support original construction permits when the next windows open up.
Subscribers of the LPFM Encroachment Report can disregard the 10/18-10/22 Encroachment Report entries for KPWR Los Angeles CA, KLVE Los Angeles CA and KWVE San Clemente CA.
