I completely agree with the Audio Division's position denying the Albert David Informal Objection and granting the Construction Permit.
As one who used to listen to ACBRI, I know of Jim Pemberton's history, and he has had a long history and desire to make radio through his involvement with the streaming projects of the American Council of the Blind.
The rules do give some leeway to allow for someone other than the board member to sign an application where the regular signatory has a disability.
Springfield lost a great voice many years ago with the loss of WQNA. While this station will not be as big as the old QNA, I wish this station a safe construction and look forward to hearing "The Voice" return to Springfield in the form of this LPFM station.
Obviously, this is a proceeding that I have been watching very closely. This is why I always say, always choose your battles. Sometimes, there's a reason for why something is the way that it is. This is one of those excellent examples.
I support any efforts and adaptive technologies that makes radio accessible to anyone with disabilities. Again, thank you to everyone in the Media Bureau involved in this proceeding and making the decision that is in the public interest by promoting inclusion in broadcasting.
Again, I am pleased with today's decision.
