RECid is a product of REC Networks which maps a 7 digit application ID with the 32 character hexadecimal LMS application ID to provide a more user friendly identification of applications as well as to integrate with applications that may have been originally designed for CDBS which used an integer as an application ID.
The System40 Transition is REC's 2024 effort to move most services from a shared server to a more dedicated environment. System40 provides REC with substantially increased storage and memory capacity, an updated operating system, additional security, better site access and reduced costs. The transition is a step by step effort which migrates over one system or function at a time from the old to new server while maintaining the highest level of business continuity possible.
REC's FCC broadcast application manager, eLMS is a complex program that allows REC that reads broadcast applications, amendments and actions as they are filed or decided. This functionality permits qualified application types to be in REC's database in near real time without waiting for a daily data dump. eLMS also stores information from the broadcast application that does not appear in the FCC daily data dump.
On October 12, 2024, in order to transition the eLMS system to the System40 environment while maintaining services to systems that remain on the legacy server (FCCdata.org), we have set up eLMS to engage in a "dual operation" where one instance of eLMS is running on the new System40 environment while another instance continues to run in the Legacy environment. Both eLMS instances operate independently with no interconnection.
As a result of this type of conversion, both systems will independently assign their own RECids to newly filed applications and amendments. This means that the RECid that is recognized for an LMS application in System40 will be different than the one recognized in Legacy.
Therefore, until FCCdata.org is transitioned to System40 which is expected to take place later in October or possibly early November, the RECids that display in that system will be incorrect. The RECid generated in System40 will be the official RECid for the LMS facility record.
If you are a user of the RECid daily data dump file or using the REC Open API, be advised that the RECids that are shown are the System40 RECids and will be used in the long term.
