REC Networks has released a completely new version of the popular REC Broadcast Query tool (http://recnet.net).
The new tool features a wider window size and larger maps.
While the new tool keeps the split screen format similar to the old version, there are some differences in the look and feel of the tool. When a facility record is first brought up, you will see all of the engineering application records for that facility on the left side. The records that are considered as the "current" ones have the application reference number highlighted in the background and will appear automaticlaly. To view archived records, just click on the Application Reference Number and that record will show up. Contour maps will now also show up without having to ask for them individually.
Most of the information that was in the previous engineering record still displays. For US FM and TV stations, we now show the patterns of directional antennas in 36 different directions. Remember that to determine the actual azimuth being evaluated, you have to add the value in the "rotation" to the azimuth being evaluated.
The new version of the tool now permits search by the FCC's application reference number (ARN). The ARN is the characters after the dash in the FCC file numbers. (For example: for BNPL-20131225ABC, you would enter 20131225ABC).
In the Application History area, clicking on the FCC file number will take you to a copy of that application record at the FCC.
REC will eventually add more features similar to those currently provided by our internal RECpro system. We are also going to work on a mobile-friendly version of the tool.
